The EZY-VS is a two-component voltage measurement system consisting of compact ohmic divider sensors and a precision booster amplifier. It replaces conventional electromagnetic voltage transformers (VTs/PTs) in medium voltage switchgear by using resistive voltage division instead of electromagnetic transformation. The sensors weigh just 0.75 kg (compared to 15-30 kg for a conventional VT) and produce a standard 110 VAC output suitable for protection, metering, and synchronization equipment.

Ferroresonance occurs when parasitic capacitances in the primary circuit resonate with the inductance of a conventional electromagnetic VT. Since the EZY-VS uses an ohmic (resistive) divider network with no inductance whatsoever, the resonance condition cannot physically occur. This eliminates the most common cause of VT failure in service.

Yes. The EZY-VS system achieves Class 0.5 accuracy when the sensor and booster amplifier are calibrated together. This meets the requirements for revenue metering applications in South Africa. It is already deployed in revenue metering installations by Jacaranda Metering.

The EZY-VS is available for systems from 6.6 kV to 33 kV. The appropriate sensor type is selected based on the application: OAS type for gas-insulated switchgear and cable terminations, or OKE type for air-insulated switchgear installations.

The EZY-VS system typically costs 50-60% less than conventional voltage transformer solutions. The cost saving comes from the lower sensor cost, elimination of dedicated mounting compartments, reduced switchgear enclosure size, and simpler commissioning. OEM volume pricing is available for manufacturers integrating the system into their standard product range.

Use ALVERN IP005004 4-pair individually screened cable for all booster output connections. This is critical because inter-core capacitance in unscreened cable can cause phase shift errors that affect measurement accuracy. The screened cable prevents crosstalk between phases and maintains the Class 0.5 accuracy specification.
